Winter Break

Winter Break is amazing! The relaxation, the utter lack of tests. Wonderful!! I have been to some GREAT places as well, here are some photos.

First of all, here are some Hanukkah photos. They were taken in early December, so not quite during winter break.

Then there are the photos from California Academy of Sciences.

They had a reindeer exhibit. Did you know that reindeer are domesticated caribou?

Then there was the rainforest, and I got two good close ups of butterflies.
Another butterfly! This time she's munching on an orange.

A brilliant red frog.

Surprisingly this photo came out even through glass!

A cozy corner of moss and such.

The Sheep and the Pika

Pikas live in high altitude climates, and are the fluffiest and cutest animals ever to touch the face of planet earth. Global warming is rapidly decreasing their area to live, yet they are not on the endangered species list. Help change the by going to this link and scroll down to sign the petition.

Pika cuteness
This photo cam from here

So of course I had to make a stuffed animal Pika

Which leads me to the sheep as well

Of Monsters and Men

Of Monsters and Men, amazing as always (slightly strange music video)

Blog Story! A section a week

I finished packing up the backpacks. The mountain misery’s smell of dirt and dust consumed my nose. It was all I had smelled for days in this harshly beautiful valley of the mountains. Our light weight packages of freeze dried food needed to be packed out, and we rushed to get back on the trail so we would get to the car parked at the head of the trail before dark. All of our activities were hurried, but there was also such a sense of calm in the mountains that it was impossible to feel any stress. The sun would soon decide it was time to start giving off it’s heat, so before it reached it’s peak we were on the trail ready to take the long
(but downhill) hike back.
We worked our way down the trail’s steep pin turns. At some points we tottered on the edge of the world, with a death promising drop starting only a few feet away from where we stood, and at other times the leafy foliage of the forest surrounded us, smiling down on us with such a warmth that I swear there could have been tree nymphs hidden in those Aspens, using their magical powers to draw us in. About two miles into the four miles hike, and with a backpack as heavy as ever, fatigue and irritability started to take over, along with the mischevious elves of hunger bit at the edge of my stomach. Later that day, we would go about our normal business, until we heard the news, the news that changed my life.

This is my blog story. I will submit a small selection each week, so please let me know what you think of it!
